Roger Federer loses in quarterfinals to Tsonga at Wimbledon

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will face second-seeded Novak Djokovic, who defeated 18-year-old Australian qualifier Bernard Tomic 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Roger Federer couldn’t hang on to a two-set lead at a Grand Slam tournament. Tsonga will now take on Novak Djokovic for a place in the final. Rafael Nadal beat Mardy Fish to set up a semifinal clash with Andy Murray. Nadal will face fourth-seeded Andy Murray while Tsonga meets Novak Djokovic.

Nadal is 11-4 against Murray, including a victory in last year’s Wimbledon semifinals and in this year’s French Open semifinals.

Federer said:“I was controlling the match. Next thing you know, he just continued serving great.” Federer was seeking to equal Pete Sampras' record of seven Wimbledon singles titles.Federer lost to Nadal in the 2008 final.

Tsonga said:"I just played unbelievable, served unbelievable and now I'm here, I'm in semifinal and I can't believe it." Murray beat Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 6-4, 6-4—the only straight-set result in the men’s quarterfinals—while Djokovic defeated 18-year-old Australian qualifier Bernard Tomic 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
