Pakistan vs Sri Lanka World Cup Preview


Asian Giant Sri Lanka will take on another giant killer Pakistan in their group match of the ICC 2011 world Cup on 26th Feb 2011 at Premasasa Ground in Colombo. The match is a day night clash. Both teams have won their opening match comfortably and will try to have the much needed win. Sri Lanka as usual will be a very tough team to defeat at their home ground. Their opening batsman T. Dilshan is expected to explode against the strong pace Pakistani attack. Captain Kumar Sangakkara and the last match century maker M.Jayewardene will look forward to carry their last match form in this match too.
Sri Lanka has strong pace bowling attack. Lasith Malinga is a specialists ODI bowler along with Nuwan Kulasekara and have strong and perhaps presently the best off spinner in the world M. Muralidaran and might also include Ajantha Mendis.
On the other hand Pakistan will depend heavily upon their fragile but explosive middle order batsman namely Younus Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, all rounder Abdul Razzaq and their captain Shahid Afridi to score runs.
Their bowling will depend upon fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, Wahab Riaz and Umar Gul. Saeed Ajmal along with Captain Shahid Afridi who took 5 wickets in the last match will cover the spin department. If Pakistan can show good display of fielding mainly on catching they will definitely have advantage. The match will start at 2.30 PM IST and will be live on ESPN and STAR CRICKET. Overall it will be a 50:50 match. The wicket is expected to be batting friendlyand a high scoring match. eam batting first will have advantage.
