Australia V Zimbabwe 2011 ICC match analysis

World Champion Australia started their campaign to win their fourth consecutive ICC world Cup 2011 against Zimbabwe today on 21st Feb. 2011. The batting by Australia was not as explosive as everyone would expect against a mere weak team. The unfortunate run out of the skipper Ponting resulted slow progress of the innings which is again contrast to the trend of fast and high scoring matches usually when played in India. Opening Batsman Shane Watson carried his good form by scoring 79 runs of 82 balls. Vice captain Michael Clarke also started getting back his golden touch by scoring a quick fire of 58 runs of 55 balls. Australia managed to score 262 runs in 50 overs thanks to some late hitting by the batsman in quick successions.
In reply Zimbabwe started their innings very cautiously but could not manage something that would make them feel proud of against the current world champions. The perfect display of fast bowling by the Aussie pacers resulted frequent breakthrough and none of the Zimbabwe batsman was comfortable against the fiery Aussie pace attack. They were struggling at 104 for the lost of 7 wickets and now only waiting for time to wrap up the innings. A huge win will definitely boost the morale of the Aussie.
